Background | Human Interleukin-17F (IL-17F) is encoded by the IL17F gene located on the chromosome 6 and belongs to the IL-17 family which contains IL-17A, IL-17B, IL-17C, IL-17D, IL-17E and IL-17F. IL-17F that shares 50 % homologous of crystal structure to IL-17A and is expressed by activated T cells, has the functions of stimulating production of other cytokines (such as IL-6, IL-8 and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) and proliferation of PBMC and T-cell, regulating cartilage matrix turnover, and inhibiting angiogenesis. |
